Hong Kong’s Fashion Week Featuring Asia’s Emerging Designers
Not only is Europe gearing up with Berlin, Paris Couture, Men’s Fashion Week, Amsterdam Fashion Week, and the upcoming Pret-a-porte landslide, next week, the 42nd Fall/Winter Hong Kong Fashion Week, Asia’s largest fashion event. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be buzzing with the expected 2,000 exhibitors at the fashion fair along with high-profile international designers at the concurrent World Boutique fashion event. Along with runway shows the HKTDC will host a fashion fair and fashion seminars.
With pavilions from mainland China, India, Japan, Macau and Taiwan showcasing bold brands from their countries, the highlight of the week will be the Hong Kong Fashion.
Extravaganza show on January 17 and the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers contest. Highlighting emerging designers is the theme in Hong Kong’s effort to compete with mainland China’s Beijing Fashion Week and Shanghai Fashion Weeks that are stealing eyeballs and fashion buyers. Designers such as Japan’s Keita Maruyama, Doii Lee from South Korea, mainland China’s Alex Wang, and Hong Kong’s Barney Cheng will be in the main spotlights.
